Ford Uses Self-Driving Technology to Help Small Businesses

Self-driving technology is new, exciting, and has a lot of promising applications. Ford recognizes the limitless possibilities of self-driving technology and is working with a group of small-business owners who operate flower shops, dry cleaners, and a pet car shop in Miami, to see how self-driving tech can work to improve their business flow.

Delivery is an often-requested service of a florist, but many smaller shops cannot afford the cost of a dedicated driver. A clever solution may be on the way in the form of a fleet of self-driving cars that serve multiple businesses in the area at once.

The service works via a mobile application. When the florist has a delivery request they need only request one via the app, receive a notification when the self-driving vehicle has arrived, and then load the cargo into the storage area. The recipient then receives a call or other notification to go out and retrieve her beautiful arrangement from the vehicle when it arrives. The vehicle then continues on its way to another delivery, perhaps for a completely different business, like a dry cleaner.

The technology is still in the trial phase, and no driverless vehicles are currently in service, but the trials that are currently collecting data have been promising and the potential for this service to help owners of small businesses in a variety of fields is very exciting.

We’re eager to see how Ford will use self-driving tech to help business owners. Contact Courtesy Ford today for more information!

Winter is a brutal time to be on the road, especially when the snow hits hard in Sauk City. Luckily, there are several winter-friendly Ford models that will help you navigate through the cold weather safely.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is America’s best-selling vehicle for a reason. This pickup’s strong frame and aggressive 4×4 drivetrain make trekking through the snow and ice easier. The interior is dressed for the cold with available heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control. You can also opt for heated exterior mirrors to prevent ice and snow buildup that impedes your vision.

Ford Fusion

Agile and ready for the winter weather, the Ford Fusion is one of the only midsize sedans available with all-wheel drive. Having all-wheel drive makes all the difference when you hit a patch of ice, an all-too-common occurrence in Sauk City. The SE trim was named one of U.S. News & World Report’s 10 Best Cars for Winter Driving thanks to its AWD drivetrain, heated front seats, and heated steering wheel.

Ford Escape

As a strong SUV in the Ford lineup, the Escape makes a great winter vehicle. Its available 19-inch wheels give you added ground clearance to maneuver through accumulated snow. The Ford Escape also comes with AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ to help give you added control and slow the vehicle down in icy road conditions.
