New Ford Vehicles Will Feature 5G Technology by 2022

New Ford vehicles bring more innovative technologies to the road than any other competitor. Ford Motor Company recently announced an ambitious plan: bring 5G technology to every new Ford vehicle by 2022. The cellular technology will allow the vehicle to communicate with infrastructure, businesses, other vehicles, and more.

Ford’s cellular vehicle-to-everything connection, called C-V2X, will play a major role in how self-driving vehicles operate. With autonomous vehicles expected to take the roads by storm within the next decade, Ford is looking to remain on the cutting edge of technology.

5G connectivity could help drivers with day-to-day activities, such as navigating four-way stops. Traffic lights could be equipped with technology that warns vehicles when the signal is about to change. Road signs could inform vehicles and drivers of upcoming construction zones. If everything goes wrong and a properly equipped vehicle is involved in an accident, it could alert oncoming vehicles.

“C-V2X could complement these systems in ways similar to how our sense of hearing complements our vision to improve our ability to operate in a complex world,” wrote Don Butler, executive director of Ford’s connected vehicle platform.

Ford won’t be alone in bringing the future of the road to light. The automaker will work with governments and industry experts to create an environment that can support new Ford vehicles equipped with 5G technology. We look forward to having these advanced trucks and SUVs at Courtesy Ford.

Ford Bringing Small EcoSport SUV to the U.S.

Ford has a lot of popular SUV nameplates in the American market, like the Explorer, Expedition, and more. However, for 2018, another new name will be introduced to the lineup that will be making its home in another part of the world – namely, India. The small EcoSport SUV is getting imported from Indian factories to give Ford customers in the United States yet another option to choose from when it comes to the compact SUV segment.

More and more Americans are looking less into cars and are becoming more interesting in utility vehicles, hence the recent burst in crossovers that handle like smaller vehicles but have the capacity and comfort of an SUV. A lot of automakers are starting to produce vehicles focusing on the demographic of young up-and-comers settling down to start a family, and the EcoSport will be a perfect fit for anyone looking for a spacious family hauler that doubles as a sporty and efficient ride.

The small EcoSport SUV recently debuted during Ford’s segment at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The same nameplate has been available in various global markets for years, but the 2018 model year will be a new generation made specifically to appeal to the tastes of young American buyers. Look for it on the market sometime late 2017 or early 2018.
