How to Throw a St. Patrick’s Day Party

St. Patrick's Day PartyAt Courtesy Ford of Sauk City, we love any excuse to get together with friends. Since St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, why not plan a themed St. Patrick’s Day party? Here’s what you’ll need.

There are tons of delicious, traditional Irish foods that you can use to build your St. Patrick’s Day menu. Bake Irish soda bread to accompany a hearty Guinness beef stew. Or, choose corned beef and cabbage as your main dish—with a side of potatoes, of course. For dessert, anything green will do. Serve the kids green cupcakes topped with rainbow sprinkles, but offer the adults a spiked Irish coffee topped with fresh whipped cream.

If you want to create a fun party space, you can decorate with shamrocks and white calla lilies. However, if you have to choose just one thing to focus on, make it the music. If you have friends who can play instruments, invite them to bring their instruments along. Irish pubs are often filled with live, buoyant music, and having a play-along can bring that mood to your party. Otherwise settle for a playlist filled with Celtic music.

And Remember …

The cupcakes are green. The shamrocks are green. The only thing missing is everyone’s festive clothing! Have your guests dress in green and encourage them to go all out— green shirts, green beads or even green wigs are welcome. Once everyone’s together, start the night with a toast—Sláinte!
