If there’s one thing that auto enthusiasts look forward to every year, it’s the unveiling of the new Ford Mustang. They got their wish at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show with the unveiling of the coupe but the Detroit-based automaker wasn’t quite done. A few days later, the new Ford Mustang convertible made its official debut.
Like the coupe, the convertible will see standard LED lights and a customizable digital instrument display added to the equipment list. A refreshed hood and new fascias are also on the list of changes.
The Mustang convertible features a time of 10 seconds to lower the insulated cloth roof. Both version of the popular sports car go on sale in fall of this year.
The 2018 Ford Mustang will be the first model to drop the V6 engine since 1994. Instead, the popular pony car will see a performance-driven 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 310 hp take its place. The signature 5.0-liter V8 engine will hold its spot on the lineup. All engines will come mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission.
While the convertible wasn’t around at the Detroit Auto Show, it will hit more than 50 regional auto shows throughout the United States. Keep your eyes open!
We here at Courtesy Ford of Sauk City are pumped for the unveiled new Ford Mustang convertible!
