While a pickup’s capabilities might be your primary reason for choosing a truck, you should also consider its safety technology and ratings. Modern trucks can be equipped with advanced safety features just like other types of vehicles. And, the 2019 Ford F-150 is one of the safest pickups on the road thanks to its excellent crash test results and standard safety features.

Recently, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released its crash test results for the F-150 and announced that it was the only truck to earn the top grade — a “Good” rating — in all crash tests. Among the 11 pickups tested, the F-150 performed the best in the passenger-side small overlap front crash test.

“F-150’s smart engineering, plus the innovative combination of its high-strength steel frame and high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body continues to demonstrate enduring customer benefits – from repeated class-leading crash test performance to best-in-class towing and payload,” said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford executive vice president, Product Development and Purchasing.

In addition to the IIHS test results, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the F-150 a five-star overall vehicle score.

The 2019 Ford F-150 comes standard with Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear View Camera with Dynamic Hitch Assist, Trailer Sway Control, and AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™.

Winter is a brutal time to be on the road, especially when the snow hits hard in Sauk City. Luckily, there are several winter-friendly Ford models that will help you navigate through the cold weather safely.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is America’s best-selling vehicle for a reason. This pickup’s strong frame and aggressive 4×4 drivetrain make trekking through the snow and ice easier. The interior is dressed for the cold with available heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control. You can also opt for heated exterior mirrors to prevent ice and snow buildup that impedes your vision.

Ford Fusion

Agile and ready for the winter weather, the Ford Fusion is one of the only midsize sedans available with all-wheel drive. Having all-wheel drive makes all the difference when you hit a patch of ice, an all-too-common occurrence in Sauk City. The SE trim was named one of U.S. News & World Report’s 10 Best Cars for Winter Driving thanks to its AWD drivetrain, heated front seats, and heated steering wheel.

Ford Escape

As a strong SUV in the Ford lineup, the Escape makes a great winter vehicle. Its available 19-inch wheels give you added ground clearance to maneuver through accumulated snow. The Ford Escape also comes with AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ to help give you added control and slow the vehicle down in icy road conditions.
